Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as the Philadelphia reporter in 1967. She joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She was promoted to Washington general reporter to NBC News two years later. In 1981 began reporting on the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was named the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs reporter in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell was a panelist at the debate in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her work in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's terms as President. She has covered several notable news stories throughout time, including the tax reforms, budget reforms and The Iran Contra scandal. She travelled frequently along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
